Investigaciones: herpetología, inmunología, hematología y química sanguínea de reptiles, especialmente serpientes venenosas. Estudios etológicos, esencialmente sobre comportamiento reproductivo. Fisiología, mayormente nutrición, de reptiles venenosos. Toxicología de reptiles, principalmente de serpientes venenosas de las familias Elapidae y Viperidae.
Estudio sobre la composición proteomica de arácnidos ponzoñosos, particularmente los escorpiones de Costa Rica.
Estudios sobre endoparásitos en serpientes venenosas.
