The number of rainy days for each of the 8 series analyzed decreases in the "canícula" months in most of the years. Nevertheless, in other years, the number of rainy days increases in relation to June. The accumulated rainfall amounts for periods of ten days, for each station, show that in the first twenty days of May the accumulated rainfall is much larger in relation to April. The average daily rainfall values indicate that in the first ten days of May rains consecutively more than 5 mm. Utilizing two different criteria, the beginning of the rainy season is calculated for the 8 stations with daily data. It is found that the beginning of the rainy season starts first in the western part of the country and later on in the eastern part. With an inverse criterion it is calculated the beginning of the dry season. It is found, for all the series, that the dry season starts on 8 November.
