Abstracto

  • William Albert Bussing Burhaus, known as Don William, was a professor in the School of Biology at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) from 1966 to 1991, the year in which he retired. He was a Full Professor since 1978. After his retirement he was named Emeritus Professor and continued his work as curator of Ichthyology at the UCR Zoology Museum, until his death in November 2014. As a scholar he worked on the taxonomy, systematics, eco-logy, zoogeography and evolution of freshwater and marine fishes of Costa Rica and Central America. He published close to 90 papers (see below, list of publications) and described 60 species (see below, list of described species) over his career.
